San Jose Extension Setback

BART's expansion to San Jose stumbled again Friday when Santa Clara transportation officials withdrew their bid for $750 million of federal funds. The project is expected to cost $4.7 billion overall. San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales says the BART extension is "the most important and most popular transit project ... it has to be built." Ridership is projected at 11,000 per weekday and the project is already underway.
